For this activity, we had to partner up and go back and forth editing an image with Adobe Photoshop. Josh and I had three serves each and ended up created something fit for a nightmare and/or horror movie. This was a really fun activity nonetheless!

Technology 3 - Scanner Lineart
This activity explored the different modes and settings on a scanner, the lineart and grayscale colour modes to be specific, and the resolution of each scan.
First, we had to pick a purely black and white image - no grey tones - and scan it at three different resolutions (The lowest to highest resolution our scanners could scan, mine being 75, 300 and 600 dpi) using the 'lineart' mode.
Second, we had to pick a photo to scan three times using the grayscale mode, each time increasing the resolution.
Lastly, we had to create a pen drawing on a paper towel or serviette and scan it using the highest resolution settings with the lineart mode. Here are my results:

Technology 3 - Scanner Story
For this learning activity, we had to arrange 9 objects on our scanners to represent our story or message in an image. I decided to show my hobbies and interests through my final product.
- Fine-liner Pens & Watercolour Pencils - Ever since I was little, I've been into drawing and anything art related. It seems like I'm only ever comfortable with a pen in my hand when I'm able to go as crazy as I want.
- Lucky Stars - Starting back in 2013, I've been on a mission to make as many lucky stars as possible, these tiny paper origami stars. It is said that once you make 1000 lucky stars, you can make a wish and it'll come true. Whether or not I believe in that is irrelevant, I think they look pretty cool!
- Intuos Pro Pen - One of my most prized possessions is my Wacom Intuos Pro tablet, I bought it a few years ago and it was probably the first investment I made to help in a career involving graphic design. I remember when I found it sitting at my doorstep one afternoon after school and I literally fangirled over it as soon as I saw it.
- Earphones - Pretty self-explanatory, I love music.
- Xbox Controller - While I'm pretty terrible at video games, I still love to play them when I have free time.
- Tokyo Ghoul Art Book - Anime is also another really big part of where you'll find me in my free time, Tokyo Ghoul being my current favourite. Something about the art style used in most anime series' really interests me and makes me wish I were as talented as the creators!
- Vans Sticker - For the past couple of years, I've been making some extra money doing sign writing and making stickers for my parent's mechanic business and for my brother's race car. This Vans sticker was one of the first stickers I ever made and I'd like to say I've gotten a lot better at the whole layering thing!
- And lastly - Writing Paper - You'd think after having to write countless essays in school would put me off writing but it is yet to have an impact. I love writing, anything from short stories to random thoughts I have, getting my ideas on paper is quite therapeutic for me.

Design 3 - Black Squares
For this task, we had to use black squares (No more than 4) to represent six different design terms. I used Adobe Illustrator to create my designs after I lost a battle against my black fineliner - plus, computers make everything look a lot neater anyway.
Design 3 - My Name Assignment
For this task, we had to create different name plates by using either our own name or a nickname to represent a different character or idea. For some of these nameplates it was really simple and easy to manipulate my name but for others (I'm looking at you, chameleon!) it was quite challenging. This was a good introduction to the design portion of the course though, and while it was slightly annoying at times, it was still rather enjoyable!

My Inspiration (Cont.)
Adding on to my last post, I would like to share another artist who inspires me. As part of my Visual Arts Practice subject, we were instructed to pick an artwork to write an analysis on. The artwork I chose was 'Departure of the Winged Ship' by Vladimir Kush, a Russian surrealism artist and sculptor that creates beautiful works of fantastical art. As I mentioned in my introduction, I love fantasy art and anything that can inspire my imagination, which is probably why I love this artist so much. I would just like to share some of Kush's works with you, hope you don't mind.

My Inspiration
Here are the 5 main designers in which I find inspiration:
Richard Perez
I really like his use and take on flat design, making it visually interesting while still remaining 2D. He uses simple shapes to create an image and a colour theme to suit. I tend to use flat themes in my own work because the style interests me and I think there is a lot of potential in this style.
Lauren Hom
I really like all of Lauren Hom's typography because she makes even the simplest of work look beautiful. The quotes she chooses are reflected in her imagery and the designs are so intricate.
Dana Tanamachi
I like Dana Tanamachi's work because while it is kept simple (There's that word again!) all of her designs are in-your-face and eye catching. She uses colour and typography in such a way that draws your attention to the image which is really important in design.
Nicholas Keiser
I really enjoy the way Nicholas Keiser uses ink in his tattoos, both design and execution. His designs are always exact and intricate with lots of shading, dotwork, bold lines which really catch your eye.
Kchilt (Deviantart)
I really like this deviantart user, Kchilt, because it is both interesting and visually beautiful. Their style is very cartoon-like and fun which I tend to use in my own work as well. I like their colour themes and overall cohesiveness in their work which really adds to the design.
